Default 3.0Ltr d22 EGR Block

Hi Guys just wondering if anyone knows the procedure for blocking the EGR on a D22. I have the info for the 30Ltr Patrol Just wondering if the adjustment on the VNT scew is the same on the D22 given the fact that a 1/4 turn can be the difference between two much boost & not enough
Thanks

Don't worry about the turbo adjustment, there is nothing to adjust on the Navara, they don't run the variable vane turbo. The D22 just runs a standard boost pressure actuated waste gate which means no adjustment necessary.

egr/butterfly mod - The Navara Forum

very benefical (and illegal) on the NAV

exhaust gasses + oil make a mess of your intake :O

Installing a catch can (preferably baffled) is a no brainier after seeing ^^^

Excuse my ignorance but what is the EGR and what benefits do you get from blocking it. How do you do it?

Cheers

Exhaust Gas Recirculation - basically regulates the amount of exhaust gas allowed back into the intake.

When exhaust gases are mixed with oil (from the positive crankcase ventitation [pcv]) it makes a black sludge which clogs your intake and valves. This is a contributing factor to the problematic ZD30 in early GU patrols, but due to the navara's using a MAP sensor (not MAF like patrols) they haven't has the same overfueling issues.

Benefits:
1. No black sludge in inlet/valves (main reason). Also fit a catch can between PCV and air intake to further help intake.
2. Slight increase in partial throttle response.
3. Slight increase in fuel economy

Blocking is quite easy. Just block pipe where exhaust gasses exit from exhuast mainfold in EGR system and where the entre in the inlet manifold.
There are also some vacuum lines to modify to get the full advantage of this mod.

Please be aware that this is illegal, as it is part of the vehicles pollution reduction system. Modify at your own risk/benefit

I have now blocked the EGR and i do think it makes a difference in low down throttle response. The engine generally sounds a lot smother especially when first started and i have also noticed the puff of black smoke when you nearly stall the motor has pretty well gone now. When i took the pipe of on the inlet to block it i was quite amazed how dirty the pipe was, im bloody sure that by blocking the EGR i have increased the reliablity of the engine because it cant be good for the engine to have all that s$%t being fed back into it.
Cheers
